As ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari when he was sacked last week, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has launched a full investigation into the activities of the office of Amnesty Program under the leadership of Brig. Gen Paul Boroh (retd).
Boroh who was Special Adviser on Niger Delta to President and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme was sacked through a statement released by the presidency last week.
This was after months of accusations by some groups that he has been corruptly enriching himself with funds allocated to the Amnesty Office.
For instance, many groups have written petitions against Boroh, alleging mismanagement and gross corruption in the payment of tuition fees and living expenses of Niger Deltans schooling on the scholarship of federal government in educational institutions in the United Kingdom and U.S.A among other places.
The President had therefore, also directed a probe of Boroh's tenure as the coordinator of the Amnesty Programme.
It was gathered that in compliance with the order, a combined team of operatives from the Office of National Security Adviser and the EFCC throughly searched Boroh' residece in the Gwarinpa area of Abuja where a boxes of cash were uncovered on Monday.
ThisDay newspaper reports that $9million was discovered in the House during the search.
However, the EFCC has not confirmed that such amount of money was discovered in the retired Brigadier residence.
But the Commission confirmed his was arrest.
Sahara Reporters also gathered that Boroh was later released on administrative bail, his problems may just be beginning as the anti graft agency is set to intensify the probe of his tenure in the Amnesty Office in the days ahead.
